MEDITATION 4 EDUCATION
The Dalai Lama, one of the great spiritual leaders of our time, has been quoted as saying, “If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.”
As the mom of an 12-year-old boy, a yoga teacher, and a human concerned with the future for our children, this quote really hits home for me.
WHY SCHOOLS NEED MEDITATION BREAKS
Meditation has several benefits for growing children such as stress management, better academic performance, and a better mindset towards learning. These benefits can be magnified if schools include meditation breaks during the day. Meditative practices gently moves our students into a calmer state, increasing their self-awareness and making them more present. On top of this, there is also growing research which shows the positive impact meditation can have on our cognition, memory, and attention.
