What's the difference between a yoga paddleboard and a regular paddle board?

The key differences between a traditional paddleboard and a yoga paddleboard are in the shape of the paddleboard. A SUP yoga board has a wide deck - typically 35 inches wide or so. This width makes the board incredibly stable which is what you want when you are attempting challenging poses.

Is paddleboard yoga good for you?

Full Body Workout - Paddleboarding works out your entire body from your arms, back, core, legs, and all your stabilizer muscles. SUP yoga will allow you to focus on all these muscle groups in a mindful way and allow you to work on your breathing while doing your yoga practice.

Should I wear water shoes while paddleboarding?

Always bring a pair of water shoes or sandals with you on your paddle board for carrying your gear to and from the water. They can clip right onto the storage bungees.  We do not allow shoes on our boards.

Why do paddlers not wear a life jacket?

This is because stand-up paddleboards are seen in the same category of surfboards (not boats or kayaks) and therefore it is considered that a full-body lifejacket/ PFD may interfere in a self-rescue scenario.

Do I need a dry bag for paddleboarding?

We will provide a safe storage for you to keep your phone, keys etc.  If you want to take your phone with you on your journey, you must provide your own dry bag.  Aqua Prana SUP Yoga & Meditation is not responsible for damaged phones.  Class is to connect with nature and to be present in the moment.  We prefer no phones.

What should I wear for paddleboard yoga?

For paddleboard yoga, you can go with regular yoga pants, shorts, bikini bottoms, or whatever clothing you have that allows flexibility and dries quickly after getting wet. Surf clothing could be a great choice as they are already made for being in the water and won't fade as fast.

Is there a minimum or maximum age or size to paddle?
The minimum age is 10 years old. Has long as you are in good health there is no reason why seniors cannot paddle! Also, our boards can handle up to 285 lbs, so come out a paddle for a great workout!

What do I need to bring?
Please wear a swimsuit and sun protection. You may also want to bring something to drink.  We also recommend wearing polarized sunglasses with lanyard, hats, and sun shirts if you would like to purchase them.

What about weather and water conditions?
A light mist in the hot weather is okay for paddling. But no padding in heavy rain or thunderstorms! We will then reschedule. If in doubt, please call. Also, if we deem the water conditions for the day dangerous we reserve the right to reschedule (safety first).

Is gratuity included?
No, but it is not required. If you want to let your instructor know what a great job he or she did, it is a way to do that! Or referrals are always welcome too!

Do you do parties, events, youth groups etc?
Yes, we love to! It is a great way to get kids involved in a fun sport and outdoors! Also, it is a wonderful team building experience for work parties.
